It seems absurd that the US knows what the problem is (i.e., drugs). It knows where it’s coming from. It knows who is dealing it. People are dying in the US either from the drugs or in conflicts between gangs and… the US has done little to stop it.
Sure there’s been the occasional this or that but FFS when there’s out in the open adverts for Naloxone and that’s normalized why has so little been done?
Hard prohibition and violent enforcement is the root cause of this problem. There are no alcohol cartels, but there where when alcohol was illegal.
It drives profits and incentives for violence, and corruption. And once the money is flowing, the system reinforces itself.
Brutalizing populations, spiraling repression - all these policies can do is entrench the problem. It won't be until all drugs are legal and taxed that this problem will go away. And that won't happen because drug trafficking drives huge amounts of money that is essentially tax free.
The drug repression system exists to drive the flow of money outside the purview of the State, not because "drugs are bad hmkay". That is just propaganda. Otherwise, why would alcohol, by far the most harmful drug, be legal?
Is there a prediction market for what percentage cut he'll accept for drugs coming into the US?
15% for security sensitive chips going to China, so is it higher or lower for hard drugs coming in?
I saw this movie before.. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109444/

I’m certainly not pro-alcohol. It’s a poison. The WHO has declared it a carcinogen. Etc. But it does have a history of being socially acceptable.
Yes, it’s on the list. But for now I curious about the USA willingly accepting “foreign invasion.”
We have a huge border... trying to secure it is almost impossible.
Taking out the producers and criminals creating it in another country is another issue that isn't easy.
What is your suggestion?
Try something. If that doesn’t work. Try something else. But drop & cover? It’s not working.
Technically, the POTUS takes an oath to protect the borders. Why has that been ignored?
